BIO
Anna Möller is a multifaceted musician and violinist at the forefront of today's innovative and contemporary folk scene. She is a diligent explorer of music from different parts of the world and is especially interested in the musical tools that become useful in the borderland of different cultures folk music. As tradition is a concept of moving and traditional music always has interpreted its own time, Anna freely moves over genres and boundaries with the ambition of creating contemporary folk music that dare to be both fragile, honest, rebellious and relevant.
Anna constantly appears in new projects and konstellations which includes both theatre, performance, composing and live concerts. She is a part of some of the more prominent acts on the Scandinavian folk scene, such as Ebo Krdum, Ale Möller, Sara Parkman, Västanå Teater and the four piece family band Kolonien.
Anna grew up with the traditional music embedded in the family. Through her childhood she got to meet great musicians that made a strong impact on her and she started playing violin and the electric guitar at an early age. As a teenager she discovered Ethno- a worldwide organisation with music camps for young musicians from all over the world. She got to experience the activist potential of music as a tool for social change, a perspective that follows all her work. Anna has later been an artistic leader at several Ethno camps such as India (2016), Croatia (2017) and Chile (2017, 2019).
Music collage Södra Latin and the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, with studies for well-known players as Ellika Frisell and Sven Ahlbäck, has deepened her knowledge on traditional music. Also momentous travels and musical meetings abroad has been an important part of defining her artistic interest and identity. In 2015 she got the opportunity to study for the great riti player Djibril Bah in Senegal in West Africa, a forever memorable experience that still inspire her way of playing. Anna is now touring worldwide and she is currently working on composing music for her first solo album. She is also part of the Swedish Grammy-winning record label Supertraditional, within which she in 2021 produced the multiple priced Ebo Krdum album debut ’Diversity’.
